Joe Cole explains how Chelsea can exploit Leicester City in the FA Cup final

Joe Cole says Chelsea's pace through midfield could be key to winning the FA Cup final on Saturday.

The Blues take on Leicester City looking to claim their first piece of silverware since last winning the tournament in 2018.

It will also be Thomas Tuchel's first final as Chelsea boss ahead of the Champions League showpiece with Man City later this month.

Cole, who is supporting Budweiser's #SupportYourPubs campaign, believes the game against Brendan Rodgers' Foxes will be a tight game, but that there areas that Chelsea can look to exploit.

He said: “It’s going to be a real tactical battle, it will be interesting to see what Leicester do.

“It’s very important that N’Golo Kante gets round James Maddison and stops him playing because he picks the ball up in the pocket and he’s got two passes on all the time with Ineacho and Vardy.

“Leicester hold quite a high line at times, what I like about Fofana is he gets very tight, very quickly.

“So the runs from midfield from Chelsea - from Christian Pulisic, Mason Mount and Timo Werner or whoever plays there - are going to be vital.”

Tuchel has undoubtedly made an impact on Chelsea, leading the club to two finals and a top-four challenge since taking over in January.

Yet Cole does not believe one player in particular has stood out under the German, instead hailing the Blues' performance as a group.

He said: “I’ve been impressed with all of them, they’re really together.

“You look at the Real Madrid game, they looked like a team who were together, vibrant and cohesive against an older team.

“Chelsea’s strength is this group, it’s not like the team of four or five years ago where Eden Hazard was the talisman.

“I think it’s the group for Chelsea. We still don’t know who’ll start the final - he still hasn’t settled on his best 11 as there’s so many good players in the squad.”

Ahead of the FA Cup Final this weekend, Budweiser is giving away all of their advertising and sponsorship space to pubs from West London and Leicester as it calls on fans: Support your club; #SupportYourPubs.
