Former Chelsea attacking midfielder Joe Cole has encouraged Premier League strugglers Newcastle United to go after Jesse Lingard when the January transfer window opens.
The 28-year-old, has made 12 appearances for Manchester United so far this season and again rumours surrounding his future have began to resurface.
Current United boss Ralf Rangnick has insisted players should not have to be convinced to stay at the club and with the Magpies now under new ownership, there could be grounds for a deal to be struck.
Eddie Howe, backed by the Tyneside club's new Saudi owners, will surely be looking to delve into the January market.
Newcastle are currently 19th in the table, and with just one win to their name all season, Cole believes the need to sign players who are proven within the league is a necessity.
What do you believe is the best scenario regarding Jesse Lingard's United future? Let us know in the comments below...
“Jesse Lingard, I think, would be a great signing for someone,” Cole told Coral (via the Metro ).
“I’m sure he’s come across Newcastle’s radar. They’ll have the financial power to go and buy him.
“You want someone with Premier League experience. The bright thing for Newcastle to do in January is to buy players ready-made for the Premier League, who know the league.
“They can’t afford to sign anybody who needs time to settle in,'' concluded the former Liverpool winger.
Lingard did feature for United in their recent 1-1 draw with Young Boys just last week, but had seen limited game time under former manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, despite a successful loan spell with West Ham just last season.
