Joe Burrow’s Bengals deal actual signing date, signing bonus details

The Cincinnati Bengals and Joe Burrow have agreed to his rookie contract in principle.

Technicalities remain the holdup. According to Tyler Dragon of the Cincinnati Enquirer, the plan is for Burrow to actually ink the deal this Thursday.

Burrow was eligible to report to Paul Brown Stadium last Tuesday but like veterans reporting this Tuesday, he was required to undergo multiple coronavirus tests. If he’s in the clear there, contractual items and taking a physical can happen before he gets to actually training with the team.

Per Dragon and others, Burrow will get 100 percent of his signing bonus within 15 days of putting ink to paper. Meaning, he’ll get roughly $23.88 of a $36.1 million contract right away.

Otherwise, it’s standard fare as far as contracts go. Burrow will have the fifth-year option. He’s one of the last first-rounders to get his deal done, though the slight delay wasn’t an indicator of much given the unorthodox nature of proceedings right now.

While waiting, Burrow has been training with Bengals teammates like D.J. Reader, Vonn Bell and Sam Hubbard.
