Cincinnati Bengals defenders are starting to see some of that famed Joe Burrow fire at training camp.
Thursday, Burrow found himself on the wrong end of an interception by new linebacker Josh Bynes.
Bynes, who joined the team via free agency, revealed after practice that Burrow specifically sought him out so he could pick his brain about how the turnover happened. The veteran talked about it with Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com:
“Not a rookie quarterback. I don’t think I’ve had a rookie quarterback come up to me. Maybe I had a few vets here and there. Definitely not a rookie quarterback. But you can tell he’s hungry and wants to get better. That’s what I like about him. I think everybody is knowing that, especially on offense. They’re gravitating towards him because right now he has to lead the way for this offense and we’re looking forward to it.” …
In what Bengals defenders will probably learn is typical Burow fashion pretty quickly, the No. 1 pick immediately responded on the very next play by throwing a corner-endzone touchdown strike.
In fact, Burrow was on fire most of the day to a variety of different wideouts minus the one notable interception. Bynes put it best: “He was probably pissed.”
Call it a good sign all around — Burrow’s bouncing back from mistakes, seeking out those who best him and generally picking apart a defense with a quality pass-rush.
