Joe Burrow gets a nod from Tua Tagovailoa ahead of Bengals vs. Dolphins

As Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow stares down reconstructive knee surgery this week, Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is trying to work through an injury of his own and suit up against Burrow’s team.

The Burrow vs. Tagovailoa matchup has instead morphed into Brandon Allen vs. Ryan Fitzpatrick, which doesn’t exactly have the same pop.

But Tagovailoa has Burrow on the mind, per ESPN’s Cameron Wolfe: “Injuries like that are never fun… I know he’d love to be able to go out there and compete against us. I sent him my prayers. I wish him the best.”

Burrow, who was still in meetings with his teammates ahead of his surgery, is scheduled to have an operation under the supervision of a doctor former Bengals great Andrew Whitworth knows a thing or two about.

While onlookers won’t get to see Burrow vs. Tagovailoa this year, the way Burrow played and the way Miami looks, it sure seems like the two will have plenty of interesting showdowns in the future.
