The probable Cincinnati Bengals No. 1 overall pick will partake in the virtual 2020 NFL draft.
Monday, the NFL confirmed the virtual approach to the draft proceedings, meaning the Bengals — and likely Joe Burrow — are first up.
Thursday, the NFL announced that Burrow and Ohio State defensive end Chase Young will be two of the headline acts actually participating in the virtual event.
Oklahoma quarterback Jalen Hurts, Alabama receiver Jerry Jeudy and Wisconsin running back Jonathan Taylor were also announced as participants.
Call it a stroke of good news for Bengals fans. The expected start of a new era, from a presentation standpoint, collapsed when the NFL canceled the draft in Las Vegas. This new all-virtual format will get creative in its presentation and indeed feature Burrow himself in some fashion.
Interestingly, while Burrow figures to be the first pick, no team past the top three has even bothered calling Young. Elsewhere, the Dolphins are still trying to trade up for Burrow at No. 1 but the Bengals aren’t budging.
