Joe Burrow among NFL stars to sign letter to end qualified immunity for police

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow’s name is one of 1,400 signatures compiled by the Players Coalition in a letter going to the United States Congress

Burrow’s signature is one of many NFL stars, joining the likes of Tom Brady, Drew Brees and Dak Prescott. The letter supports a bill to end qualified immunity for police.

According to ESPN, U.S. Reps. Justin Amash, L-Mich., and Ayanna Pressley, D-Mass., put forth the bill Thursday in response to the killings of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor. The report also says the coalition has invited all 32 teams to a virtual meeting this week to focus on initiatives in key areas.

This small effort from Burrow follows up on his actions when he spoke up recently — which Bengals greats have thanked him for doing. The No. 1 pick this year has been adamant he’ll look for more ways to put his platform to work in areas like this.
