Joe Burrow is making up for lost time after his ACL injury as a rookie, and is doing so in a historical way.
The Bengals quarterback threw three touchdowns in Cincinnati’s 34-11 blowout in Detroit against the Lions. As a result, he joins Hall of Fame quarterback Dan Marino in exclusive company.
Burrow joined Marino as the only second-year quarterbacks in NFL history to throw at least two touchdowns in each of the first six games of their second season. Marino went his first ten games of the 1984 season tossing at least two touchdowns.
Burrow is also seventh all-time in franchise history in passing yards. He’s the fastest-ever Bengals passer to 4,000 yards — and he’s only just now played 16 games.
Burrow currently sits at 14 touchdown passes, tied for fifth in the league with Kyler Murray and fellow 2020 first-round pick Justin Herbert. The only quarterbacks with more touchdown passes through Sunday are Patrick Mahomes (18), Tom Brady (17), Matthew Stafford (16) and Dak Prescott (16).
Burrow will hope to stretch his streak to seven games in a huge divisional battle in Baltimore on Sunday against the Ravens.
