Joe Burrow addresses the Bengals situation

Joe Burrow got asked the million-dollar question again — does he want to be a member of the Cincinnati Bengals?

Burrow was in Fort Worth to accept the Davey O’Brien Award award Monday and tackled the subject during a media session with reporters.

“Look, this is a long process, right?” Burrow said, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram’s Drew Davison. “They have their process that they have to go through, so I’m just blessed to be in the position that I’m in. If they select me, they select me. I’m going to do everything in my power to be the best football player that I can be.”

That’s a safe, non-committal answer. It won’t quiet any of the speculation that he doesn’t want to play for the Bengals. But it doesn’t harm the idea either.

Which in February, is probably what those around Burrow have advised him to do. This echoes past comments he’s made about simply be honored to hear his name in the conversation for the first pick.

While this won’t quiet outside noise, the process Burrow mentioned is indeed underway and nothing much outside of it matters at this point.
