As Brooks Koepka went into the final round of May’s PGA Championship with a huge lead, TV cameras appeared to capture him denying a kiss from girlfriend Jena Sims. Evidently, he was locked in or wanting to save the kiss for after he won.
Either way, that presented some minor drama for the two-time defending U.S. Open champion as he went into Sunday’s final round at Pebble Beach in the hunt behind leader Gary Woodland:
Would the pre-round kiss actually happen this time?
You better believe that the Fox Sports crew and Joe Buck were standing by to give that answer to the golf world. When the kiss actually did happen, Buck broke out a World Series-caliber call for the moment.
Buck said:
“The kiss has happened. The kiss HAS happened.”
That was certainly the update we all needed before Koepka’s pursuit of a third straight U.S. Open title. Thank you for that.
If he wins, you can bet that Koepka won’t deny a pre-round kiss again.
