Joe Biden's British cousin hopes he can heal divided America with presidency win

Joe Biden’s British cousin hopes that the Democrat can heal a nation fractured by political chaos.

Ralph Biden, 74, said that Joe has more gravitas in his “little finger” than Donald Trump.

The grandfather-of-three admitted he is “ecstatic” about Joe’s expected win and hopes to one day be invited to the White House.

The politician’s great-uncle Arthur – Ralph’s grandfather – was a war hero in the British Army during the First World War and was awarded numerous medals after driving troops and supplies in the battles at Somme and Ypres.

Ralph has his bets on cousin Joe (Jonathan Buckmaster)

Speaking from his cottage in Surrey, Ralph said his American cousin is a statesman who can restore America’s reputation on the global stage and heal the divisions within American society.

He said: “Frankly I think Donald Trump is just a snake oil salesman.

“America needs to sort of wake up and get on with the job. And I think they’ll do that under Biden.”

Meanwhile, Boris Johnson is under pressure to use his influence with Donald Trump to warn him against damaging democracy by claiming that the US election is rigged.

European leaders have suggested the US President should not make such claims without evidence but Downing Street only said it is too early to “speculate on the outcome”.

Shadow Trade Secretary Emily Thornberry criticised the PM, saying that Trump “should be called out”.

Justice Secretary Robert Buckland admitted Trump's claims were “concerning”.
