Joe Biden Irish roots: President elect's three words from BBC clip that everyone wants to hear

Since Joe Biden's election win on Saturday, talk of his Irish roots have been to the forefront in Ireland.

The next US President boasts cousins in Mayo and on a recent trip to Ireland he labelled the place "heaven".

And now an old clip of Biden speaking to the BBC is going viral all over again for all the right reasons.

When asked for a quick work by a reporter in a media scrum, the politician replied "BBC! I'm Irish."

The clip has again been shared thousands of times with people loving the fact Biden is so proud of his Irish ancestry.

The former Vice President had the full support of Carlingford in Co Louth as well after he visited the Cooley Peninsula area back in 2016.

Speaking about the visit, Local Eamonn Thornton told the BBC: "Having dropped off the vice president, the Secret Service cars went on down to turn at the end of the road.

"As he was coming towards the pub this Secret Service guy said to me 'Where the hell are we' and the vice president happened to overhear and said: 'Man, you're in heaven'."

And many shops in the area now proudly display "Irish for Biden" posters after the visit.
