Joe Biden arrives in Glasgow for COP26 as US President's motorcade seen on M8 motorway

President Biden has arrived in Glasgow this morning ahead of COP26 where talks will soon take place about climate change.

A large police presence was on the scene as Air Force One touched down with the US President on board at Edinburgh Airport.

The President arrived just after 11am and began travelling to Glasgow to meet with over 100 world leaders and climate activists shortly after. He is said to be staying in a four-star hotel in Scotland's Capital alongside the Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau.

His motorcade was seen travelling along the M8 on its way to the SEC in Glasgow's Finnieston, where Biden met with Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

The climate conference in Glasgow is said to be seen as the historic moment when countries must now deliver on pledges made in the legally binding Paris Agreement made back in 2015 in a bid to limit temperature rises to well below 2C above pre-industrial levels with an ideal target of below 1.5C.

President Biden will only be staying in Scotland for two days and will travel between between Edinburgh and the Scottish Events Campus in Glasgow in his car nicknamed, The Beast.

According to the BBC, the 5.5-metre-long (18ft) Beast "can hold at least seven people and has a wide range of medical supplies on board, including a fridge with blood matching the president's blood type, in case of an emergency.

"It reportedly has tear gas grenade launchers, night vision cameras and a built-in satellite phone. The passenger cabin is said to be sealed, and the tyres are reinforced so the car can still move even with flat tyres."
