Joe Aribo urged to show Rangers loyalty as Barry Ferguson makes 'desperate' transfer admission

Barry Ferguson reckons Joe Aribo should knuckle down and show his loyalty to Rangers by staying at Ibrox for at least another season.

Aribo has been one of their key men this season, particularly since Gio van Bronckhorst 's arrival.

He's benefited from a more advanced role but his good form has caught the eye in England with a number of Premier League clubs reportedly considering an approach.

He is out of contract in 2023 and that only adds to the anxiety that he could force an exit.

But Ibrox hero Ferguson, speaking on Go Radio, reckons he should show his loyalty to the club who have given him the platform to take his career to the next level.

" Rangers will be desperate to keep him. They've been good for Joe Aribo," he said.

"It wasn't that long ago he was playing non-league. Rangers have given him a chance.

"I'd like to see him stay another season and a bit and go on to become even better than he is.

"The fee that they paid was only about £300,000. An absolute snip.

"When he first came up you could see signs that there was a player in there.

"I like when he plays central, with Aribo and Arfield bombing on it suits Rangers perfectly.

"He's playing some brilliant stuff and scoring some great goals."

He also reckons Aribo is performing on a level with Celtic skipper Callum McGregor.

If not slightly higher than his Parkhead counterpart, as he's scoring goals too.

Ferguson added: "Joe Aribo just pips Callum McGregor because he's scoring goals.

"I know he's playing a bit more further forward, but for me, it's Joe Aribo.

"He can play further back, when Rangers play with a two he tends to be the one who does that job sitting beside Kamara or Davis.

"But I like it better when he plays further up - he just brings so much to the team."
