Joe Aribo announced himself on the international stage with a debut goal for Nigeria on Tuesday.
And it earned the Rangers star instant plaudits from Ibrox coach Michael Beale.
The midfielder has been a hit with fans following his summer arrival from Charlton Athletic.
That form earned him a first call up to the Super Eagles squad for a friendly clash with Ukraine, opening the scoring after just three minutes with a nicely timed run and finish.
It appears Beale too was impressed with the 22-year-old as he took to Twitter to show his appreciation.
Victor Osimhen doubled the Nigerians' lead from the penalty spot before the break but a late salvo from Ukraine rescued a dramatic 2-2 draw.
Two goals in two minutes from Manchester City's Oleksandr Zinchenko and striker Roman Yaremchuk levelled matters in the closing stages.
Before the game, the English-born midfielder revealed his pride at a first international involvement.
He said: “I am really happy to have got this call-up to Nigeria and I just want to make the most of it and play as long as possible and just do what I can for the team and make sure that we continue being the best that we can be."
Aribo 's goal is a welcome return to form for the Ibrox favourite following a difficult afternoon in last month's defeat to Celtic .
He was deployed in an unfamiliar advanced role and struggled as the Hoops ran out 2-0 winners over Steven Gerrard 's side.
