Joe Aribo scores on Nigeria debut as Rangers star takes just three minutes to impress

Rangers star Joe Aribo grabbed a goal on his Nigeria debut just three minutes into the game.

The midfielder started for the Eagles and quickly showed what he can do with a left foot finish from close range after some good movement.

It was a bright start for the Ibrox new boy, who joined Steven Gerrard's men from Charlton on a Bosman in the summer.

He lined up in the middle of the park for the Eagles beside Stoke City's Peter Etebo while former Arsenal star Alex Iwobi played in front of the pair.

Iwobi has just made a £40million move from the Emirates to Everton and it was him who set up Aribo for the goal against Ukraine.

Nigeria then went 2-0 up through a Victor Osimhen penalty on 34 minutes.

The English-born midfielder revealed his pride at playing for Nigeria after being called up for the first time.

He said: “I am really happy to have got this call-up to Nigeria and I just want to make the most of it and play as long as possible and just do what I can for the team and make sure that we continue being the best that we can be."
