Joe Aribo reveals two word Rangers vs Livingston advice from Steven Gerrard

Joe Aribo has divulged the advice of boss Steven Gerrard in the run up to today's win against Livingston where the midfielder grabbed the opening goal.

The Nigerian international may have been a key player in Rangers ' 2-0 win at the Tony Macaroni but his last visit to West Lothian ended in trauma after a challenge from Ricki Lamie left the silky midfielder needing 20 stitches to his head.

And now Aribo has revealed that Gerrard took him aside in the lead-up to the tie and gave him some simple words of encouragement.

He told Sky: "Before the game the gaffer said "stay safe."

The midfielder was over the moon to have scored and explained how his finish had been influenced by advice from Ibrox teammates on the training ground.

He revealed: "(I'm) Very happy. We just needed to come here, we knew it was going to be a difficult game and I'm delighted we managed to get the result.

"We needed to let the game settle down and by scoring that enabled us to get that and we needed just to go from there.

"I was really pleased (with the goal) because the the boys have been saying I just side foot it so they have been telling me to put my foot through it and I managed to do that."
