Joe Aribo pinpoints his Rangers improvement needs as he highlights Steven Davis inspiration

Rangers midfielder Joe Aribo admits he needs to keep adding goals and assists to his games in the coming games.

The Nigerian hasn't netted for Rangers since the 8-0 thumping of Hamilton back in November.

But he revealed he's constantly speaking to Steven Gerrard and the rest of the Rangers coaching staff about where he needs to improve.

Aribo has been hampered by injuries at times this season and has netted just four times in 23 games but he's a key part of how the Ibrox side play.

And he said: "I do analyse every single game. You want to be coming off at the end with goals and assists, and that’s something I want to improve.

“I want to improve every day and it’s something I talk to the gaffer about."

Aribo has been joined by Steven Davis in the middle of the park for the majority of games he's played and the Northern Irishman hit 300 appearances for Rangers in the 1-1 draw with Motherwell last week.

And he admits the veteran is a big role model for him as he looks to make himself as key to Rangers as Davis is.

He said: “Just seeing everything he does in and around the building. You can see it with his recovery and his work in the gym.

“He’s just a wonderful pro and you can see why he’s played 300 games here. He’s just the model pro and a role model to me."

Aribo will also have competition from Ryan Jack now that the Scotland star is back involved in the squad after a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

And the former Charlton playmaker admits the standard of training has stepped up since Jack returned to the fold last week.

He added: “It’s massive having Jacko (Ryan Jack) back. The boys are buzzing he’s been back in training. You can see the intensity going up with him around, so it’s good to have him back."
