Joe Aribo on his Rangers dream coming true as he addresses Patrick Vieira and Dele Alli comparisons

Joe Aribo admits he's in dreamland after sealing his move to Rangers .

The 22-year-old put pen to paper on a four-year deal and has joined up with his new team-mates during their warm-weather training camp in Portugal on Thursday.

Aribo is ready to get down to work for the team he grew up watching and is backing himself to be a smash-hit during his stay at Ibrox.

The former Charlton midfielder admits discussion with Ibrox boss Steven Gerrard ultimately led to him making the decision to move north.

His former Addicks boss Lee Bowyer reckons the switch to Glasgow wasn't the right career choice for Aribo but the player himself is in no doubt he's made the right call.

He told Rangers TV: "It's basically a dream come true to sign for a club the size of Rangers. I've grown up watching them, I'm buzzing to here.

"It's because the size of the club. It's also because of the manager, I had a chat with him and he persuaded me this is the best for me and I've trusted him and now I'm here."

Gerrard has made no secret about his desire to find something different in the midfield area and Aribo appears to tick a lot of boxes.

The new signing believes he has all the tools needed to win supporters over right from the off but remained cool over comparisons with Patrick Vieira and Dele Alli.

He added: "I'm quite dynamic, I can get up and down the pitch, get players one vs one, sometimes I can pick a pass and find the back of the net.

"A lot of people say I'm like Patrick Vieira and my old manager said Dele Alli.

"My aim last season was to get 10 goals and I achieved that but I'm a goalscoring midfielder, I take pride in scoring goals.

"Charlton trusted me because I wasn't playing for an academy, they trusted me by developing me.

Aribo knows he'll be expected to show up every week but reckons his experience of winning in the white-hot atmosphere of a Wembley final will stand him in good stead.

He said: "I feel like we went out there to win (playoff final vs Sunderland), we expected to win and that's how it will be playing for Rangers, going out every week and having to perform, it's got to be done.

"I can't wait for it, one of the factors for me coming over was playing European football.

"I feel like it's vital to settle in as quickly as I can, just to get to know the players. I can't wait to make my debut, everyone is buzzing and I can't wait to put the shirt on and get out there."
