Joe Aribo injury worry for Rangers as midfielder misses out on Nigeria clash

Nigeria boss Gernot Rohr has revealed Joe Aribo will miss out on his side's game against Lesotho on Tuesday evening with a stomach issue.

The midfielder played 90 minutes against Benin on Saturday and they have already qualified for next year's African Cup of Nations.

But it will be a worry for Steven Gerrard and Rangers if the stomach problem forces him to miss this weekend's Scottish Cup clash with Cove Rangers.

Gerrard has made it clear that the Scottish Cup is now their main focus after sealing the league title and Aribo being missing would be a major blow.

He's been a key player for his side in recent months after struggling on his return from injury late last year.

Rohr said: "The training was okay, we had a long time to come here because of the traffic but the training was okay.

"We trained for one hour and fifteen minutes of good work.

"Unfortunately there is one player Joe Aribo who has stomach problems so we are not sure he'll play. "

Rangers host Cove on Sunday with the game to be shown live on Premier Sports.

The Ibrox men have struggled in the Scottish Cup under Gerrard and are yet to make it past the quarter-final in his previous two campaigns.
