Joe Aribo admits Steven Gerrard improvement discussions as source of Rangers training intensity boost revealed

Joe Aribo has shown himself to be one of the most gifted players in the Scottish Premiership since his arrival from Charlton in the summer of 2019.

The Nigerian, what the kids nowadays call a 'baller', has a deft touch, a wonderful hip swivel and all the talent to be a player of major significance in the years ahead.

But with just four goals and a measly two assists to his name this season, he's not producing a level of quality in the final third that matches the level of his natural gifts.

And that's a criticism that Aribo himself admits is fair as it's one he's open about working on.

The 24-year-old analyses every match he's involved with and has asked his gaffer Steven Gerrard, a player who amongst the global elite, how he can improve on his skillset.

When asked if he reviewed his performances he admitted: "I do that every single game.

"Obviously, when you play you want to get assists and goals and I feel I can improve that part of my game.

"I want to analyse and see where I can improve.

"Every single day I want to improve. I went and spoke to the gaffer and said 'Where can I improve? How can I improve with my technique etc."

Aribo will welcome back his midfield chum Ryan Jack to the squad for the game against Ross County at the weekend.

The former Aberdeen captain has been out since November and his teammate is delighted to see him return given the boost it has given training.

He said: "It's massive having Ryan Jack back.

"The boys are buzzing in training and you can see the intensity of training going up as he joins us so it's good to have him back."
