Joe Anderson slams parents of 'feral' teens after 'worst Mischief Night ever'

Liverpool Mayor Joe Anderson has slammed the parents of 'feral' teenagers responsible for misery, damage and destruction across the city and region last night.

The city leader was furious after kids taking part in the so-called 'Mischief Night' tradition caused more than £20,000 damage to council flats being built for the disabled in Garston - while others attacked emergency service workers and started multiple fires.

Hundreds of posts on social media also , estate and neighbourhood with many claiming that 2019 is the "worst Mischief Night so far".

Mayor Anderson said the blame for the behaviour lies largely with their parents who clearly 'don't care where their kids are or what they are doing."

He said: "It is absolutely disgusting and for a city where money is so unbelievably tight, for them to do this damage to houses we are building for vulnerable people is so disheartening.

"It isn't up to schools, it isn't up to the police, it is parents' responsibility to know where their kids are and what they are doing.

"When they are going out of the house dressed all in black at night, why aren't they asking what they are up to or where they are going?

"Sadly I think these are clearly feral kids whose parents don't care about them or what they are doing."

"This isn't mischief, it is criminal damage and criminal behaviour and we will be scouring all of our CCTV footage to find out who is behind it and assisting the police to make sure they get the book thrown at them."

Fire crews and police officers were attacked multiple times with bricks, eggs and fireworks during a busy night in Merseyside.
