This book is not like any book I've ever read as it is not something that would normally happen. In this story, Joe is the main character. He is a smart boy, and he is quite bothered about what other people think about him.
After his mum and her new boyfriend leave for a holiday for a week, Joe is left alone. But before you know it, the money, food and electricity run out. And Joe's mum does not come back.
Whilst they're away, Joe meets a new girl called Asha. She is not like most girls, she is unique. Joe likes her perspective of things like the world, and enjoys her company.
Soon enough, people begin to get curious and wonder what Joe is actually up to, as he was told not to tell anyone about his mum and her boyfriend going away. Asha and Joe try to think of a solution when his mum is a week late.
Make sure you read the book to find out what Joe and Asha do next…
My favourite part of the book was the part when Joe began to bond with Asha, because it felt like the start of a good friendship which is important in the story, it also felt as if she was actually part of the story and was the person who was going to make everything alright for Joe.
In the story I really liked the plot, the surprise ending and the whole story itself. My favourite character is Asha because she is not like normal girls; her perspective of things is very interesting, and she has a lot to say for herself and a lot to give to the character.
