Jody Morris trolls Arsenal with Instagram message to Petr Cech that Chelsea fans will love

One year ago to the date (May 29, 2019) saw Petr Cech play his final game as a professional footballer.

Ironically it came against the team where he established himself as one of the finest goalkeepers of his generation and it turned out to be a game he won't have fond memories of.

It was the 2019 Europa League final between Cech's Arsenal side against Chelsea in Baku, Azerbaijan.

Chelsea Q&A with Oliver Harbord

Despite losing his status as first-choice goalkeeper to Bernd Leno earlier in the season, Cech was given the nod by Unai Emery to start the final and hopefully bow out with one final winner's medal.

And all the pressure was on the Gunners as they missed out on a top-four finish in the Premier League, meaning all their hopes of returning to the Champions League rested on beating the Blues.

A dull first-half sprung into life shortly after the restart when Olivier Giroud came back to haunt his old club and former teammate as he broke the deadlock in the 49th minute.

Unfortunately for Cech it would only get worse from there as he had to pick the ball out of his net three more times as his final game ended in a 4-1 defeat.

A loss he's still hurting from.

"Year has gone but the pain remains," he wrote on social media. "@Arsenal #europaleaguefinal ... last game of the career 29/5/2019."

But Jody Morris - Frank Lampard's assistant head coach - had a response that is likely to delight Chelsea fans as he joked that Cech did a job for the Blues in last season's final.

"Good work double agent Cech," Morris posted on Instagram.

Following his retirement, Cech returned to Chelsea as a technical and performance advisor.

"I feel very privileged to have this opportunity to join Chelsea FC again and help create the best possible high-level performance environment to continue the success the club has had over the past 15 years,” he said after his appointment.

"I’m looking forward to the new challenge and hope I can use all of my football knowledge and experience to help the team achieve even more success in the future."
