Jody Morris delivers update on Frank Lampard illness ahead of Chelsea vs Nottingham Forest

Chelsea assistant manager Jody Morris has said that Frank Lampard will be taking the team for Sunday's FA Cup match, despite missing the pre-match press conference through illness.

The Chelsea boss has been suffering with a bug since Christmas, meaning that Morris was drafted in to speak to the press ahead of the third round tie against Nottingham Forest.

Lampard's side host the Championship side on Sunday afternoon as they look to avoid an upset and make it through to the fourth round of the competition.

Morris has revealed that the head coach will be back in action in time to take charge for the match.

"He’s had a bug for a week or ten days," Morris said in his pre-match press conference.

"He ain’t feeling the best but will be alright for Sunday."

Morris also said that some of the players are also struggling with illness ahead of the match.

"There’s been a bit of a bug flying about. I think it’s just time of the year so we need to put up with those sort of things," he said.

The illness may force Lampard's hand when it comes to team selection, although changes to the starting eleven were expected, with Morris admitting that there will be some rotation of the squad for the encounter.
