Jodie Foster kisses wife as they celebrate her Golden Globes win in their pyjamas

Jodie Foster and her wife celebrated with a kiss as she picked up a Golden Globe award from the comfort of their home.

The actress and Alexandra Hedison, who tied the knot in 2014, took their cosy awards night very seriously by swapping glitzy gowns for their pyjamas and snuggling up on the sofa with their pet dog.

Jodie, 58, was honoured for her role as a tenacious lawyer in The Mauritanian, picking up the Best Supporting Actress prize.

She said: "Oh my god, are you kidding me? I think you made a mistake.

"I’m a little speechless, I just never expected to be here again."

Jodie sported black and white patterned pyjamas, while her dog Ziggy wore a neck tie in the same fabric.

Her wife Alexandra also donned nightwear, opting for black pyjamas with cream trim.

During her final round of thanks, Jodie included a surprising name – that of Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rogers.

She said: "I love my wife, thank you Alex, and Ziggy, and Aaron Rodgers and you know, the Hollywood Foreign Press. This is awesome!"

The star is a huge fan of the Packers and Rodgers had previously mentioned her in a speech last month.

The NFL star is engaged to actress Shailene Woodley, with whom Jodie stars in The Mauritanian.

After graciously accepting the award, Jodie celebrated by grabbing Alex for a kiss.

The award had been presented by Jamie Lee Curtis, who called Jodie her "bestie" as she announced her as the winner.

This is the third time Jodie has won a Golden Globe, also picking up gongs for her role in Silence of the Lambs in 1992 and the Cecil B. DeMille award in 2013.

Continuing her speech, she said: "I have to thank all of my amazing filmmakers, Kevin McDonald, Tahar Rahim, Benedict Cumberbatch, Shailene Woodley.

"The real life people, Nancy Hollander, and most of all, the person that we all serve, we love you Mohamedou Ould Salahi, you taught us so much about being a human being, and being joyful and forgiving, that's a lesson you give to all of us."

The Mauritanian is based on the true story of Mohamedou Ould Salahi, who was wrongly held for 14 years at the Guantanamo Bay detention camp without any charge or even a trial.

The Golden Globes are usually held in January, but this year they were pushed back to February 28 and held virtually in accordance with safety guidelines amid the coronavirus pandemic.
