Jodie Comer to be replaced by Vanessa Kirby in Ridley Scott's next movie

Jodie Comer has been replaced by Vanessa Kirby for Ridley Scott's next movie epic, according to reports.

The Hollywood Reporter said Jodie has been forced to drop out of 'Kitbag' due to coronavirus and schedule changes.

Kitbag is Ridley Scott's new epic drama focusing on French military leader Napoleon Bonaparte.

Jodie was due to play Josephine alongside Joaquin Phoenix.

The film was said to centre on their love story while looking at Bonaparte's rise.

But Jodie, who appeared in Scott's The Last Duel, will no longer be a part of the film.

Jodie told the Awards Chatter podcast: “Unfortunately, due to Covid and changes of schedule, I don’t think I can make Kitbag work right now due to a scheduling conflict."

Instead, it's believed The Crown's Vanessa Kirby will pick up Jodie's role.

Last year, Jodie starred alongside Matt Damon, Ben Affleck and Adam Driver in Scott’s The Last Duel.

The film tells of a tale of betrayal and vengeance, set against the brutality and female oppression of 14th century France.

Jodie p layed Marguerite de Carrouges, who claims she's been raped by her husband's best friend, Jean de Carrouges.

But no one believes her accusation, leading her husband to challenge his friend to a duel, the last legally sanctioned in the country.
