Jodie Comer says seeing Killing Eve costumes at Halloween proved she was famous

Actress Jodie Comer suddenly realised how frightfully famous she had become – when she saw Halloween costumes of her murderous TV character.

The 26-year-old British star plays psychopath assassin Villanelle in hit series Killing Eve , the second season of which has begun in the US.

Her character has left a trail of high-profile murders across Europe, attracting the attention of reluctant MI6 heroine Eve Polastri.

The end of series one saw Eve, played by Sandra Oh, track Villanelle down to her Paris apartment and plunge a knife into her.

But despite the show’s success, BAFTA-nominated Jodie, a homebird who still lives with her parents in Liverpool, did not realise how big it was until she spotted the Halloween outfits.

And she said: “I started thinking that this was something special.”

Series two premiered in Hollywood earlier this month, with Jodie and Sandra pictured together at a party afterwards.

But British fans will have to wait until later in the year for it to be aired here.

Jodie said her dad was a superfan who has watched series one 16 times.

But he turned down the chance to find out what happens in series two when Jodie offered to give him a peek at the storylines.

The former Doctor Foster star said: “I say to my dad, ‘I have got the scripts there if you want to read them’ and he says, ‘No, I want to wait and see.”

Despite her success in America, Jodie said she was unlikely to move over there.

Asked if she would like to live nearer Hollywood she said: “No, not LA.

“I like New York, but that is a long way from home. I am sure I would be fine, but I’m going to see in the next couple of years where I’m kind of drawn to and then I will make a decision.”

She added: “I’m at this point now in my life where there’s just not enough room for me in the house.

“I’m a hoarder and I like to collect things. I bring all my stuff back to the house and then I pack a bag and then I leave again.

“At the minute I’m just kind of floating around. I’m just going to wait and see what the world, the universe, offers.”
