Jodie Comer and Matt Damon seen in Middle Ages costumes as they resume filming for The Last Duel

Film sets ground to a halt in March due to the coronavirus pandemic.

And on Monday Hollywood blockbuster The Last Duel resumed filming in Ireland at Ardmore Studios in preparation for the film's 2021 release date.

Snaps captured on set show A-list stars Jodie Comer and Matt Damon clad in Middle Age ensembles as they transformed into their characters for the movie, directed by Ridley Scott and Ben Afleck.

Liverpudlian Jodie, 27, can be seen in a blush pink dress-like tunic with a yellow bodice over the top in the snaps captured.

The star had her hair styled into elaborate braids and in order to comply with health and safety measures put in place amid the Covid-19 pandemic she wore a a perspex shield visor over her face for her journey onto set.

Matt, 49, was also prepped for his time on camera a she stepped out in a fur-trimmed tunic and trousers that was completed with a 14th century robe.

The American star - who sported a long mullet hair style - was also seen holding a protective mask over his head.

Adam Driver was also seen but his costume was kept under wraps as he wore a waterproof coat during downtime.

The movie has been adapted from Eric Jager's book of the same name and it tells the true story of Jean de Carrouges, played by Matt, a 14th century knight who embarks on a fight to the death with former friend Jacques Le Gris , portrayed by Adam, after accusing him of raping his wife, Marguerite de Carrouges, Jodie's character.

Scenes for the movie are expected to be shot for between six and eight weeks.

It is understood that set is kitted out with testing centres and medics to ensure the cast and crew are as safe as possible from Covid-19.

The Last Duel was scheduled to be released in December 2020 but it has now been pushed back to October 15, 2021.
