Jodi Montgomery claims Britney Spears asked her to 'stay' as co-conservator over text

Jodi Montgomery has shared text messages from Britney Spears asking her to "stay" as her co-conservator.

The 53-year-old is Britney's Conservator of Person, meaning she's in charge of her medical care, while the singer's father Jamie Spears is in control of her financial and personal decisions as Conservator of her Estate.

Jodi was appointed as co-conservator in 2019 by Britney's father.

Following Britney's explosive testimony in court on June 23, her attorney, Sam Ingham, has resigned, filing the documents on Tuesday.

Now, Jodi has claimed Britney asked her to remain as her co-conservator in a string of alleged texts sent from the pop star.

Britney appears to ask for Jodi's help in finding a new attorney in the messages exchanged.

The text, allegedly from Britney, reads: "I need u to stay as my co conservator of person. I'm asking u for ur assistance in getting a new attorney. Thank u for ur help."

The messages were shown by Jodi's lawyer in a petition to the court on Wednesday, asking the judge to compel Jamie Spears to approve payment of $25,480 to pay for her new security guard.

Jodi claimed she is getting violent threats after the case has gained attention.

Her attorney said in court: "Since the hearing, which was illegally broadcasted and replayed to an incredibly wide audience, there has been a marked increase in the number and severity of threatening posts about Petitioner on all social media platforms as well as text messages, phone calls, and emails directed to [her] personally.

"While Ms. Spears expressed her displeasure with her conservatorship at the hearing, she has informed [Jodi Montgomery] that she would like her to stay on as her conservator. Attached is a true and correct copy of a text message between [Montgomery] and Ms Spears."

However, Jodi's responses to Britney were not shown.

In a statement released on Tuesday, following the resignation of Britney's attorney, Jodi's attorney Lauriann Wright revealed she will remain as Britney's Conservator of Person for "as long as the singer wants her to".

The statement read: "Ms. Montgomery has no plans to step down as Ms. Spears’ Temporary Conservator of the Person. She remains committed to steadfastly supporting Ms. Spears in every way she can within the scope of her duties as a conservator of the person.

"Ms. Spears as recently as yesterday has asked Ms. Montgomery to continue to serve.

"Ms. Montgomery will continue to serve as a conservator for as long as Ms. Spears and the Court desire her to do so."

The Mirror has contacted Britney and Jamie's representatives for comment.
