Jodhpur: Minor learns about 'bad touch', reports 4-year-old rape; choreographer held

JODHPUR: The city police arrested a choreographer from Delhi on Friday for raping his student four years back in the school's toilet. A Nepali resident, the accused was living in Delhi and working as a choreographer and gym trainer till recently. His family lives in Jodhpur.

The incident happened in February 2018 when the accused was engaged to train children for a cultural performance at the annual function of a school. The girl was just five-years-old then.

The rape survivor's mother came to know about the crime barely three days back when she was teaching the child about good touch and bad touch.

The girl told her mother about the ordeal she had suffered at her school four years back.

A shocked mother took the daughter to a doctor and did a sonography test. The report confirmed rape and the mother lodged a police complaint against the choreographer on Wednesday.

Accused sent to judicial custody

Investigating officer ACP Nishant Bhardwaj said that the accused, Sanam Gill (23), lived in Delhi and worked as a choreographer and gym trainer. About a month back, his work was affected due to the pandemic.

"On February 26, 2018, during a training session, he followed the minor to the toilet and raped her there. He threatened her not to tell anyone about the incident, warning her that he would know if she did as he had a 'remote'," the police officer said.

"We produced the accused in the court. He was sent to judicial custody today (on Friday)," Bhardwaj said.
