Opening the chart at 10, we've got a timetabling data officer from Imperial College

When I was a student my timetable preferences were Friday afternoons off and absolutely no 8am lectures, but sadly the dream was never to be. Thinking about it, now though, hats off to those who had the task of fitting the thousands upon thousands of students into lecture halls spread around campus - it must have been no mean feat.

The university is looking for a candidate who will be able to analyse and interpret current timetabling practices. According to the job spec: "The role will involve extracting and rationalising data from a variety of college data sources, programming timetabling constraints into new timetabling software, to reflect departmental requirements." Imperial is looking for somebody with a good honours degree in a computing, business or science related discipline (or equivalent qualifications) with good organisational and time management skills.

At nine it's a children's services manager from Barnardo's

We've got a role here for those of you out there with a social work qualification. It's working for charity Barnardo's, which is contracted by Lincolnshire County Council to provide a service to young people leaving care. The charity is looking for somebody to manage staff and volunteers involved in the scheme, which helps "young people to achieve economic well-being, progress into adulthood and access opportunities for them to achieve their goals and ambitions in life". To be considered for the job, you should understand issues affecting young people leaving care and have experience of working with young people experiencing difficulties, according to the charity's website.

While at eight we've got a transport planner role from the London Borough of Hackney

We're in Hackney for this next job. Would you say your "interest is in traffic or transportation"? The successful candidate will work closely with the senior transport planner in providing a transport planning service, specifically in the area of sustainable transport. A qualification in transport planning and membership of - or eligibility for membership of - a relevant professional body is a requirement, as well as knowledge of relevant sustainable transport planning legislation. It sounds like a good opportunity for anybody wanting to progress their career in this area, as London Borough of Hackney offers a "considerable commitment to training and development".

The University of Salford has graduate teaching assistantships at seven

Good opportunity to combine a PhD with teaching here, and solve the tricky "how can I finance further study?" problem. There are 16 scholarships available for PhD students worth £13,590 per year (based on 2011-2012 levels). The scholarship scheme offers the opportunity to study for a PhD while teaching in subjects broadly related to your PhD research. Assistants work with academic staff in a range of teaching, learning and assessment activities to support undergraduate student learning for up to 180 hours per academic year. The Graduate Teaching Assistantship covers full tuition fees and the scholarship for three years based on successful PhD progression.

The National Audit Office is searching for researchers at six

Talking of finances, in this role you'll be tasked with helping keep an eye on taxpayers' money, working for the National Audit Office (NAO), a public sector watchdog reporting to parliament on the handling of billions of pounds of taxpayers' cash. The NAO produce some 60 Value for Money (VFM) reports every year on the economy, efficiency and effectiveness of government-funded initiatives. Get the job and you'll be working as part of the VFM audit team, to help produce reports on time and on budget. You'll need to be qualified at least to master's degree level in a numerate discipline, such as economics, statistics, operational research, social research or performance measurement.

Five is a research analyst role at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO)

This job is billed as a chance to become one of the FCO's leading experts in Gibraltar, the British Indian Ocean Territory and the Caribbean Overseas Territories. Unsurprisingly, then, they are after somebody who already has knowledge and understanding of Gibraltar's history and politics. Plus, ideally a sound knowledge of the British Indian Ocean Territory and the UK's policies towards its Caribbean Overseas Territories and Bermuda as well. If this sounds like you, then you'll have "a rare opportunity to make a difference to policy". You will contribute expertise, research, analysis, comment and advice on a wide range of complex issues and will also develop contacts across the wider FCO network and across Whitehall. And, last but by no means least, there will also be opportunities for some overseas travel.

The Co-operative Group wants an international development adviser at four

Now, judging from last week's careers in international development live Q&A, a lot of you are interested in working in this area. The Co-operative, basically, has set itself a number of ambitious targets on tackling global poverty. You'd be reporting to the company's international development manager, providing support for internal research, analysis and accounting of The Co-operative's performance in the area of international development. The company is looking for somebody who can demonstrate a proven interest in development issues, who has strong organisational skills. Excellent project management skills and communication skills are also a must.

At three it's graduate jobs with IBM

The first time I read about this job, I almost missed what it was all about after getting sidetracked by the intriguing company facts included in the job spec. For example, did you know that IBM invented the barcode more than 40 years ago? And the company developed the NASA technology which enabled man to land on the moon? Interesting stuff, for sure. Anyway, if these sort if projects have piqued your interest, then here's you chance to get involved in innovation with the company. Joining as a graduate, there are opportunities across the business – from consulting to technology, sales to finance. You will need to have, or be expecting, at least a 2:1.

This week's second from the top is a teaching assistant from Leeds City Council

If you're keen to get back into the classroom when the term starts afresh after Christmas, then give this job a once over. The post in a west Yorkshire primary school is due to start on 3 January 2012, or as soon as possible before then. It's a teaching assistant role, and you'll need to have experience in supporting children's social, emotional and behavioural needs.

That brings us to number uno - finance opportunities with Procter & Gamble

Because we love a good graduate job, we've chosen this opportunity with Procter & Gamble to top the chart. It certainly sounds like a chance to hit the ground running, because working as a finance manager you will be given business responsibility from day one. You will be the 'CFO' for your area of responsibility, and will have the chance to develop an extensive set of skills through a variety of challenging assignments at a local, regional or global level, so the job spec says.
