Jobs road map focuses on full employment

Full employment, productivity growth and boosting participation of women in the workforce will be dominant themes in a white paper prepared in the wake of jobs and skills summit.

The Albanese government held the jobs summit earlier this month to address Australia's workforce challenges, including severe labour shortages and sluggish wage growth.

The government is now calling for submissions on its employment white paper which Treasurer Jim Chalmers says will "provide a road map for Australia to build a bigger, better-trained and more productive workforce".

The paper will look for opportunities to dismantle barriers to work and consider the role of childcare, social security settings and employment services.

Unlocking the jobs of the future will also feature in the road map, with special mention of caring roles, the clean energy transition and tech jobs.

The summit delivered 36 "concrete plans" to tackle Australia's economic challenges.

They included lifting the migration cap and using government incentives to entice super funds and the private sector to invest more in housing projects.

The government has also allowed pensioners to work more hours without having their payments reduced.
