Jobs lost as luxury Highland spa goes bust amid 'mounting cost pressures'

A HIGHLAND spa has entered liquidation, resulting in the loss of jobs amid mounting cost pressures.

Ardrhu House Ltd, which operated as the luxury spa and guesthouse Ardhu House, cited key factors in the closure, such as Brexit, staffing shortages, the pandemic, and an increase in National Insurance contributions, for its closure.

Four people have lost their jobs, with Allan Cadman and Charles Brook of Xeinadin Corporate Recovery appointed as liquidators.

The 165-year-old manor house is also now for sale.

The house offered several activities, including the spa, hillwalking, afternoon tea, canoeing, sailing, and yoga.

Cadman said: “The impact of the pandemic and then staffing issues and Brexit meant that Ardrhu House Ltd was never able to fully recover and improve their financial position.

“We explored every option with the business, but there was no choice for it but to enter a liquidation.”

Ardrhu House, which is separate from the company, is now on the market for £1.5 million.

The 165-year-old manor overlooks Loch Linnhe and is just 10 miles from Fort William.

Agent Strutt & Parker is handling the sale, marketing it as an opportunity to manage a residential retreat, hospitality venture, or wedding venue.

Customers who have future bookings have been told to check refunds through third-party platforms if that is where they were booked. If booked directly, they are recommended to contact the liquidators.
