Jobs in Ireland: Dream Dublin MetroLink takes massive step as 'concept architect' wanted

Dublin's dream MetroLink has taken a massive step in its ongoing development as the Transport Infrastructure Ireland has said it's currently looking for a 'concept architect' for the project.

The MetroLink is the development of a north-south urban railway service.

It will run between Swords and Charlemont linking Dublin Airport, Irish Rail, DART, Dublin Bus and Luas services.

The contract for the concept architect role is worth around €2.5 million and will run for approximately nine years.

A short description of the job outlines: "A key requirement of this role is to work with the engineering designer in ensuring that the developed concept design and architectural vision is consistently followed throughout the project from preliminary design stage through to project completion."

The 19km route will see 15 new stations, 3,000 additional park and ride spaces and a journey time of 25 minutes from Swords to City Centre.

It is estimated that the MetroLink project will start construction in 2021 and be open to passenger services in 2027.

It is unclear how much the project will cost for sure but estimates state it could be as high as €3 billion.
