Jobs in Ireland: Aviation Authority want people to train as air traffic controllers with positions in Dublin Airport available

People are wanted by The Aviation Authority to train as new air traffic controllers with positions available at Dublin Airport.

The Air Traffic Controllers are recruited through a Student Controller Programme and is available to anyone over 19 who has met the Leaving Certificate requirements.

Those looking to apply must have a minimum of a C in Maths and a C in at least two higher level subjects while an A level 5 National Framework of Qualifications award may also be accepted.

Students will receive an allowance of €150 per week for the duration of training.

If successful in the course, they may then be offered a job with the salary for Air Traffic Controllers based on an incremental scale.

The person must then stay in the job for at least four years or they may be liable to pay €85,000 in their training costs.

They wrote: "An Air Traffic Controller is responsible for the safe, orderly and expeditious movement of air traffic on and in the vicinity of airports and in the airspace for which Ireland is responsible.

"We accept applications on an on-going basis so any submissions will be captured on the database.

"The Authority reserves the right to change the selection process and add or delete stages as deemed appropriate. Any significant changes in the foregoing process will be noted in advance on the IAA website. Applicants are encouraged to visit our website on a regular basis during the process for updates on the selection process and the recruitment schedule.

"Currently the Recruitment Process of Student Air Traffic Controllers has 4 Stages. Applicants will be required to pass each stage of the Selection Process in order to proceed to the next stage. We accept applications on an on-going basis so any submissions will be captured on the database."
