Royal Mail are "urgently" in need of staff amid the coronavirus outbreak with a huge recruitment drive across the UK, including right here in Edinburgh, with many jobs on offer.
With growing pressure on the postal service to continuing to deliver the mail while staff drop off due to absences amid the coronavirus outbreak, there are positions needing filled on a temporary basis.
The Royal Mail are in desperate need of dozens of causal mail sorters across the rest of the country.
Shifts will include days, afternoons and nights, with pay rates varying based on the employees' age - ranging from £6.45 for 18-20 year-olds, to £10.76 for 25s and over.
Mail sorters will be based in the warehouse, where they will be responsible for: moving and sorting mail, segregating different types of mail, operating sorting machines, sorting letters and packets manually, as well as dispatching mail.
While previous warehouse experience is preferred it is not essential but you must be over 18 to apply for the role and candidates must be able to lift heavy mail sacks weighing up to 20kg each.
An advert for the job reads: "We are looking for workers who will be flexible to work a variety of days including weekend shifts and who can commit to long-term work over the next few months.
"To apply you need to go through a security vetting process which is done for you and is done at no cost and takes 5-7 days to complete."
