Jobs in Dublin: Dublin Fire Brigade open recruitment for new firefighters

If you've ever dreamed of joining the ranks of the brave firefighters from Dublin Fire Brigade then now is your chance.

A recruitment drive has opened today for those hoping to join Dublin's fire service.

Recruiters are say they are looking for applicants who enjoy being part of a team, possess a strong sense of duty and are seeking a challenging but rewarding career.

And while the salary scale is pretty good, applicants will have to overcome a number of hurdles is they want to join Dublin's finest.

The application process is open to people over 18 until Thursday, October 10.

Following this, candidates will have to complete a 90-minute Online Assessment Questionnaire.

Applicants must successfully compete and be placed highest in order to be considered for advancement to the next stage of the selection process - an assessment in the Public Appointments Service in November.

Based on the marks achieved in this stage, a number of candidates will be invited to complete and submit an application form to Dublin City Council.

The top group of candidates will be invited to a competency based interview organised by Dublin City Council in January 2020.

Following the interviews a panel will be formed on which successful candidates will be ranked in order of merit on a range of criteria, including motivation to be a firefighter, communication skills, assessment results and relevant work experience.

Candidates will be called from the panel in the order in which they are placed.

Each candidate called from the panel will be required to undertake a medical assessment designed to ensure that the candidate has satisfactory general health, hearing and vision.

Candidates who successfully complete the medical assessment will be required to undertake a Candidate Physical Screening Assessment (CPSA) to ensure they have the required standard of physical fitness, strength and the capability to operate as a firefighter.

The fortnightly salary scale ranges from €1,144.94 to €1,983.20.

Applicants who come through all of these stages and are successfully garda vetted will then be required to successfully complete an appropriate period of training at Dublin Local Authorities Fire and Emergency Services Training Centre.

Each candidate have obtained at least Grade D (or a pass) in five subjects, including Mathematics and English, in the Leaving Cert and hold a full, current, unendorsed driving licence.
