Jobs in Dublin: Airport looking for Painting and Decorating Apprentice with a particular set of skills

Are you a good hand with the paintbrush? Do you fancy working on some of the cool designs at Dublin Airport?

Well, today is your lucky day because an opportunity has come up for a Painting and Decorating Apprenticeship.

They are looking for hardworking and enthusiastic individuals who are pursuing a future in the trade industry.

The apprenticeship is a mixture of workplace and classroom training in a programme run by Solas.

Upon completion of the programme, the person will receive a QQI Level 6 Advanced Certificate.

Solas and the Department of Education & Skills have responsibility for providing off-the-job training, while the apprentices’ on-the-job training will take place on site at Dublin Airport.

The duration of an apprenticeship is a minimum of 4 years and the qualification is recognised both nationally and internationally.

These are the skill and experiences they are looking for from the lucky candidate:

  • Applicants must be at least eighteen years of age on 1st October 2018
  • Previous experience of the following subjects would be desirable but not essential: Art, Technical Drawing/ Graphics, Technology and Construction Studies.
  • Excellent co-ordination and hand skills.
  • Strong problem-solving ability combined with a focus on detail.
  • Excellent spoken and written English.
  • A basic level of computer skills is essential.
  • An eagerness to listen, learn and ask questions.
  • Strong team player with the ability to work independently as required.
  • Proactive thinking is paramount.
  • Demonstrate good work practices including time keeping, tidiness, responsibility, quality and safety awareness.
  • Ensure the culture of continuous improvement is maintained and developed throughout the campus.
  • Committed to daa values.

At the time of application, the person must hold the following minimum educational qualifications;

  • Grade D in five subjects in the Department of Education & Skills Junior certificate Examination or an approved equivalent, Or;
  • The successful completion of an approved Pre- Apprenticeship course, Or;
  • Three years’ work experience gained over sixteen years of age in a relevant designated industrial activity as SOLAS shall deem acceptable.
