Jobs fear as Emap orders magazines review

Emap, the magazine publisher and radio group, has ordered an external review of its consumer magazines business. The move is likely to lead to cost-cutting (in other words, a loss of jobs) in a division which contributes more than half of the group's revenues and operating profits. British consumer magazines have been hit by weak consumer sentiment, while men's magazines, such as its FHM title, have suffered from the migration of young male readers to the net. One analyst said it was worrying that Emap seemed to be focused on cost-cutting rather than investment. (Via FT.com)
