West Lothian is set to get a jobs boost after a veterinary services company announced it is to create over 100 new posts.
CVS Group has bought a 1.2 acre plot to build a facility totalling 30,000 sq ft which will create 110 new jobs at Livingston Trade Park in the town.
The company has been granted planning permission by West Lothian Council to build a veterinary referrals hospital, small animal practice and specialist pathology laboratory near Chancerygate’s new Livingston Trade Park.
CVS Group owns more than 500 veterinary surgeries in the UK, Ireland and the Netherlands, including 17 branches in Scotland.
Its Livingston facility will be one of only eight referral practices in the UK, providing specialist treatment for the veterinary industry.
West Lothian Council welcomed the good news.
Councillor Cathy Muldoon said: “I am delighted that the CVS group have chosen West Lothian for their new facility.
“We welcome the creation of new skilled jobs that the facility will bring, adding to West Lothian’s growing economy.”
CVS Group’s Darren Oxley said: “Our new Livingston premises is a significant addition to the portfolio.
“This is a very satisfactory deal completed with Chancerygate, which will grow our presence in a prime Central Belt location.”
Located on Houstoun Industrial Estate, Livingston Trade Park will have eight units and should be complete in October.
Chancerygate’s Mike Walker said: “The combination of CVS Group’s proposed new facility and our development will create significant regeneration and employment opportunities.
“We are also in discussions with several national trade counter occupiers regarding the rest of our scheme.”
