There was a jobs boost for Co. Mayo This week as Aldi opened their newest store in the West of Ireland.
The new shop located on the Tallagh Road in Belmullet will be Aldi’s fourth store to open in Co. Mayo bringing the number of stores in Ireland to 143.
And in a boost to the local economy 16 new jobs have been created, with 11 staff members having been recruited from the local Belmullet area.
The new store boasts a large shop floor spanning 1140m², 100 free car parking spaces, eight bike racks allowing for 16 bikes, wide aisles and hi-spec fixtures and fittings.
The new store is part of the German supermarket giant's €160 million commitment to its Irish store network, which sees a €100m investment in constructing and opening 20 new stores.
Aldi also has plans to invest a further €60m investment to revamp the layout and design of all stores nationwide.
The store will also be powered by 100% green electricity.
Speaking at the store opening, Colin Cronin, Store Manager of Aldi’s new Belmullet store said: “Our new Aldi store in Belmullet is fantastic news for people in the locality. The spacious design means it is easier for customers to pick up what they need, and our aim is to ensure every customer has an enjoyable shop.
"From all the staff here at the new store, we hope everyone has a chance to pop in and avail of our great savings and award winning products."
