Jobs boost as ADI Group plans to create 500 new roles

One of the region's top engineering firms is set to create 500 jobs on the back of rising demand, including a project to fit out a chocolate factory.

ADI Group plans to create the jobs by doubling in size by 2020 after a rise in contracts – including upgrading the Mondelez Daim bar factory in Stockholm.

The Kings Norton business, which was a double winner at last year's Birmingham Post Business Awards, has undergone rapid growth after being established in 1990.

But founder Alan Lusty said that trend would accelerate amid a major investment drive and commitment to launch one new business or division every 12 to 18 months.

He said: "While still a challenge for many, a number of the markets that we service have seen steady growth in capital investment over recent years and we expect that trend to continue.

"At the same time, however, our clients are under increased pressure to deliver cost reductions, which can be realised in part through our self-delivery model.

"By delivering our services in-house, we can be confident in the quality of our offering as well as our ability to manage tightly and provide streamlined communication channels to our customers.

"Consequently, we are able to pass on these efficiency and cost savings to our customers.

"Equally important is a trend among blue chip companies in the UK and Ireland to steadily reduce the size of their supplier lists through the introduction of increasingly stringent criteria, with a particular focus on encouraging a sustainable supply chain."

ADI Group has quadrupled in size since 2005 and today boasts a turnover of £80 million and 450 employees.

It has expanded across the UK in that time, now having a total of 12 operations.

The business won in the people development category of the 2015 Birmingham Post Business Awards while Mr Lusty triumphed in the outstanding professional category.

The company currently has clients in the aerospace, automotive, defence, food and drink, manufacturing, petrochemicals and pharmaceutical sectors.

As part of an assault on new sectors, plans are already afoot for a major launch into the packaging sector later this year.

Mr Lusty added: "Our commitment to launch one new business or division every 12 to 18 months means we have a roadmap for continuing to grow the Group's offering, allowing us to tap into new market sectors and customer bases while showcasing our ability to provide turnkey solutions."

"Now, our job will be to continue to support the development of the next generation talent, working with government, local authorities and our education partners to enthuse and inspire the young engineers of tomorrow and our recruits of the future," Mr Lusty added.
