Jobs at risk as Scottish toy store announces closure weeks before Christmas

A POPULAR Scottish toy store has announced its closure just weeks before Christmas.

A branch of the retailer The Entertainer in Edinburgh – located at the Cameron Toll shopping centre – shared the news this weekend.

It first opened ten years ago, in 2014 – creating 14 new jobs at the time.

The Entertainer has been approached to confirm how jobs will be impacted, with the exact closing date not yet confirmed.

The firm’s boss Andrew Murphy previously suggested that the last UK Government Budget had been a blow, including preventing them from opening two new stores.

He told BBC Today: "We were just about to initiate the work and unfortunately the changes to National Insurance in particular just tipped that balance so those stores will now not be opening."
