Jobbie alert as floater forces two-day closure of South Lanarkshire pool

The swimming pool at Lanark Lifestyles has been forced to close for two days following an ‘accidental faecal release’.

South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture confirmed the pool and health suite was closed after the incident on Wednesday, October 9.

They posted on Facebook: “Due to an AFR (accidental faecal release) the swimming pool will be closed until 3.30pm on Thursday, October 10.

“All pool activities will be cancelled during this time.

“We apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience during this time.

“Customers can help to reduce closures and keep our pools safe by:

■ Avoid swimming if you feel unwell and especially if you have had vomiting or diarrhoea in the last 14 days.

■ If your children are not fully toilet trained, make sure that they are wearing a well-fitting swim nappy.

■ Encourage young swimmers to use the toilets before they come into the pool.  Ensure they leave the pool to use the toilet before it is too late.

■ Use the showers before you enter the pool.

■ If you start to feel unwell during your swim, stop and leave the water.

■ If you do have an accident please let the lifeguards know straight away so it can be dealt with.  Don’t put other people at risk.”
