If you've ever wanted to escape Glasgow for a new adventure out in the wilderness, then this could be your chance.
The Scottish Wildlife Trust have announced they are looking for an animal lover to work and live out in the wilderness on a stunning and remote Scottish island of Handa.
The successful candidate will get to spend their days working with the wildlife, which includes over 100,000 breeding seabirds, the Record reports.
The charity explains that you will be living off the grid, with the team travelling to the nearest village of Scourie once a week for supplies, laundry and other supplies.
Applications are being taken for the exciting Handa Island Ranger position up until January 17 at 12pm when the candidates will be selected for interviews.
It's a six-month fixed-term contract from March to September 2022, and pays £17,290 FTE per annum pro-rata.
As a ranger, you will be expected to organise work for yourself and a team of volunteers, and will be expected to live and work with your team in the "physically demanding yet hugely rewarding" role.
Though familiarity with Handa Island would be an advantage, it's not considered essential, though those applying will require a driver's licence.
This wild island is an internationally important breeding site for guillemots, razorbills and great skuas that spend the summer breeding and feeding in the rich waters around Handa.
The beautiful island is known for its white sandy beaches and stunning cliffs which provide incredible views and a chance to spot incredible marine wildlife including minke whales, bottlenose and Risso’s dolphins, grey seals, and even the occasional orca or basking shark.
Traits the charity are looking for in the successful candidate include excellent people skills, organisation, experience to contribute to island maintenance, and thorough knowledge of seabird monitoring methodology and practice.
To apply, the SWT are asking people to complete the application form and return it to recruitment@scottishwildlifetrust.org.uk by the closing date.
