Job hunters in Wishaw encouraged to attend council jobs fayre

Job hunters in Wishaw are being encouraged to attend a council jobs fayre later this month.

The event, led by North Lanarkshire’s Working, takes place on Thursday, April 18, from 10am to 12.30pm, at Motherwell Concert Hall, and is perfect for people looking for work or wanting to increase their chances of employment.

From honing your CV and taking that first step, to speaking to local employers and hearing about the opportunities in your local area, it’s a fantastic opportunity to land that new job or find out how to succeed in securing one.

And, in a first for these events, the council will also have a vacancy wall and employer information sessions.

Local companies will be along on the day, together with partners from housing, health and the Citizens Advice Bureau who will also be on hand with helpful hints and advice. Companies already signed up to come along are Teleperformance, Mears Care, Viridor and North Lanarkshire Council.

There will also be a CV checker stand to make sure you’re giving yourself the best chance of securing employment.

The council’s employability services manager Paul Kane said: “North Lanarkshire Council is committed to providing targeted employment support to residents across the area. “Working closely with local employers, North Lanarkshire’s Working Prospects Programme seeks to support employers
in the area with their recruitment needs by matching suitable unemployed local residents with their current vacancies.

“Events like this allow us to support local employers to showcase their business while giving local residents the opportunity to speak to employers directly about their business and roles.

“By matching local people to local employers we’re supporting growth in the local community.”
