Joao Neves has taken aim at Arsenal’s style of play after Paris Saint-Germain defeated the Gunners in the Champions League final.
Paris, looking to retain their European crown, emerged victorious on penalties at the Puskas Arena in Budapest.
Kai Havertz opened the scoring on six minutes for the Premier League champions, but Ousmane Dembele levelled from the spot after Cristhian Mosquera fouled Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in the second half.
To penalties it went, and Gabriel missed the decisive spot-kick after Eberechi Eze and Nuno Mendes were both denied.
After scoring early, Arsenal retreated into a low block, allowing the defending champions onto them time and time again, with their only real thought when turning over possession to pump it long towards Havertz up top.
"The emotion is there,” Neves said post-match.
“It's the second time I've been a European champion. It's not even the victory itself that pleases me, but playing with such teammates, this staff, and this management.
“Coming here was the best decision I've ever made. I love everything here. We deserved it today, because PSG were the only team that wanted to play."
It is not the first time Arsenal have had their playstyle criticised, with Fabian Hurzeler spotted telling Piero Hincapie to “f****** play football” before the left-back took a throw-in during the Gunners’ Premier League encounter with Brighton and Hove Albion.
The German continued his rant in his post-match press conference following a 1-0 defeat, claiming that “Arsenal are making their own rules”.
The north Londoners themselves were hunting a maiden European crown against Paris having fallen at the final hurdle 20 years ago, losing 2-1 to Barcelona in Paris in 2006.
PSG boss Luis Enrique also claimed that Arsenal’s opening goal was “a lucky action” when speaking to TNT Sports.
"I think the match started the best way for them,” he said.
“After that it was pressure for them because they know how to defend.”
The Gunners will hold a trophy parade on the streets of north London for their Premier League triumph, but they will only show off one piece of silverware for their supporters, having been beaten in Hungary.
