Joao Mario hands West Ham triple transfer boost as wonderkids could save David Moyes millions

West Ham target makes Messi claim

Martin Braithwaite has claimed he is one of the fastest players at Barcelona.

Braithwaite, 28, joined the Spanish giants from Leganes earlier in the year and was speaking during an Instagram Q&A.

The player’s future at the Camp Nou may be somewhat uncertain, but one clear thing is who would win a race over 100 metres.

Barca are not exactly short of pace, with Antoine Griezmann, Lionel Messi, Ousmane Dembele, but the former Middlesbrough ace believes he would take the gold if they were to race.

“You’re talking to him,” Braithwaite quipped when asked to name the fastest player at Quique Setien’s disposal.

Despite only joining Barcelona this year, it is expected the Dane will be moved on when the transfer window reopens, with his signing seen as a short-term fix for the Spanish giants.

Mario could reportedly help West Ham sign trio

Former West Ham loanee Joao Mario could be the player to start a domino effect of deals that would see the Hammers land a trio of midfielders

According to FC Inter News, Marseille are big fans of the Portuguese international, with Inter more than happy to sell the player. In order for Marseille to do a deal, they would need to finance it through selling a current player, with Morgan Sanson, Maxime Lopez and Boubacar Kamara identified as potential departures.

West Ham have been linked to Lopez and Sanson in the past, with Boubacar, a player that would likely generate the most for Marseille.

Five West Ham youngsters that could save Moyes millions

West Ham’s financial situation is not expected to be strong this summer when the transfer window eventually reopens after the coronavirus pandemic.

The club’s shareholders have had to inject £30m into the business, due to kick in next month, through a rights issue where they have effectively bought their shares for a second time.

With the Premier League on hold indefinitely, there is no money coming into the club, and with a £10.6 million per month wage bill to cover each month on players, the Hammers had to find some cash from somewhere while also being able to keep their non-playing staff off the Government furlough scheme, which they have managed to do.

With an expected lack of finances available to David Moyes to spend later this year on recruits, he might have to look a bit closer to home for new blood. Sam Inkersole has previewed the five young players that could save Moyes, and the club, millions next season.
