Joao Carvalho set for Nottingham Forest exit amid Spanish interest

Out-of-favour midfielder Joao Carvalho is heading for the Nottingham Forest exit door.

It has been widely expected that Carvalho, who Forest paid £13million for in 2018, will leave the City Ground before next week’s transfer deadline for international deals.

And according to The Athletic’s Daniel Taylor, the 23-year-old will link up with the Spanish second division side Almeria.

Taylor tweeted: “Joao Carvalho is on his way from #NFFC to Almeria in Spain’s second division, another club with a strong Jorge Mendes influence. Talks are at an advanced stage and good chance for him to get career going again.”

Carvalho played an hour of the Reds’ 1-0 Carabao Cup defeat at Barnsley in early September, but hasn’t figured in the squad since and is clearly not part of manager Sabri Lamouchi’s plans.
